Yeah im dreading trying to find my tent when its dark, im bad enough at smaller festivals. Where theres normally a big group of us.
I might see if my dads gf can pick me up a phone and meet me in bremen if it will be cheaper?

Ah texting should be fine then, but i might double check to see if i can get a sim or pay in advance so i dont get a bad charge when i get home if i go over it.
...3 numbers sounds hard to keep on top of.

Better check with your provider. With my contract texts also cost extra abroad. But as I said, a handful of texts or short calls are usually no big deal, just don't do lengthy calls without checking your rates.

My worst odysee in Wacken was one year when we arrived late on Thursday, put our tents up as quickly as possible, grapped a bottle of Jägermeister and rushed to the stage. None of us bothered remembering our location, plus we got separated later on anyway. It took me a good 4h cluelessly wandering across mostly pitch black camping fields before I found my tent, half of it in the rain. Fortunately I met many nice people on the way, one of them gave me an empty garbage bag that I could work into an improvised rain coat.

Two lessons I learned that night: 1) Being irresponsible at festivals is great, but with a minimum of preparation. And remembering the way to your tent is part of that, and 2) arriving in Wacken on Monday already is not only much more relaxing, but prevents doing too much stupid stuff at once. Two rules I live by every since...

My surprise in Wacken 2005. A phone bill of €100+. The time I decided NOT to roam again, or at least not when I'm away for more than 4 days.
A reason I got myself a German number. It still works, after 5 years now. (and after 2 losses, and therefore number changes)
Woah thats crazy! i would hate to come back to something like that...money that could be spent on drink haha!

Totally, but as agresionpower says those days are over since the EU began to regulate roaming charges.

Good plan! A trap in that case can be that your surroundings will still change. On Mon and Tue there will likely be a lot of empty spaces and untouched fields around you that will become densely populated by Wed. It's quite impressive to see the camping area grow the first few days!

To ask people nicely if you can sleep in a tent or car till morning so its easier to find the tent? Or ask security for help? Orr get more drunk till it doesnt matter :p :ugly:

Oh, I talked to securities, but they are also helpless when all you can say is "I'm looking for a tent". I received some drinks on the way from nice people I met, but after the debauchery earlier that evening I didn't feel like heavy drinking anymore. And the can I sleep in your tent strategy might be easier to pull off as a girl than a guy. ;)

I just came back from the City Parade, here in the park.

Apart from the noise they produce (hardcore house etc.), it was fun. Especially since the beer sellers were Flemish, thus spoke Dutch. I did not expect that.
