I find it worse in English though. In German the rules are quite clear, in English it's just like, meh, do whatever feels right and then it's wrong after all

This reminds me so much of a doctor at work who's totally in love with commas...and paragraphs...and paragraphs that are made up of half a sentence I've given up on compromising, because he keeps making me put them back in after I take half of them out
