a 4 star hotel could be expensive in germany

I've stayed in 4 star hotels in Germany before
They seem to be of better quality the further they are from capital cities. I tend to avoid them anyway unless I can't find anything cheaper near where I want to stay, or unless there's a massive discount on my stay. I've learnt my lesson now and avoid 2 star and under like the plague
