There seems to be lots of great bands.

True. I've played with the thought of going, but checking the SNCF site realised me not to go. (SNCF = French Railways)
Not only is the connection shit, I have to change in Paris (from "Gare du Nord" to "Montparnasse") which implies a metro ride, it's about 80€/single trip MINIMUM!!! Which is for me too expensive. I pay that much to go to Wacken from Liège and back!

You guys are so lucky to have options for metal festivals! There's a handful here but none really have camping. We are planning to go to the min one here (Montabello) where you can camp but even then they had way too many people last year and were so horribly unprepared. The toilets flooded and the whole ground was covered with shit.. I don't want to go it that will happen again. Thankfully we are close enough to home to leave if it does.

But you're more used to big travels, like say, 4hrs to just GO somewhere, whereas we prefer a bit "smaller" travel times, and rather spend the night there.
It's all a question of mentality!

(and of organisation of course, but that's something I can't tell, as I have never been to a US/Canadian festival)
