The point is, (apparently...) the Dutch have the reputation of sitting on their money and don't want to spend much.

And in NL this is actually the case, so one of the reasons the Dutch economy is going down. People don't spend €€€s anymore!

LOL, I thought that had more to do with gender equality than anything else. I guess that's what the Dutch want everyone else to believe

Well, it sometimes happens that boy and girl (we know what surrounding we're talking about ) decide to split the cost. After all, it is, like you said, a question of gender equality when 'we' do that.
I know I did both ways.

I'm quite happy with this thread utterly missing it's target and being filled with casual chat/discussion like at the moment than page after page of one person spamming the same post over and over again as in previous threads
