What you all want to talk about? I could be the confused American asking questions across the sea.. lol..
Like.. what is moin or moin moin
I got a basic while in field of "Just our way in this region of saying hello / good day.. or replying to that.. but.. more of a local thing"
I can only think that compares to in the USA.. Some areas of the country would use "proper" english of a greeting like "Hello, Good Day to you" and in another place.. that could be replaced locally with "Hey Y'all"... or even.. "Wasssssssssup"
Well, one could compare it more or less like that.
Moin (or moin moin) is typically for northern Germany. It's a greeting. To be used whenever one feels like it.
The Moin moin is (more or less) for people you know.
There are other variations of such things, such as "moi" (not the french pronounciation), which is used in northern Netherlands, and "Houdoe" (pronounced like howdo) which we (southern province of North-Brabant) say when we say goodbye! (yep, I'm from the very same North Brabant in the SOUTH of the Netherlands)
Truth there I am afraid
all good things end somewhere I guess.
Doe 'm de groeten, en felicitaties van mij!so tomorrow I'll be off to scotland for a wedding
