One month to go and the other folks I'm going with are still procrastinating about how
they're gonna get there. Part of the experience is the trip getting to Wacken. After
the fest, I head up to Sweden to visit a friend who moved from the East Bay Area to
Gothenburg a couple years back. I hear they've got a huge network of bike trails up
there that are considered parallel to Marin County and the Lake Tahoe area over
here.

Only thing left that I still haven't decided on in the "getting there" part is whether to
take a train from Amsterdam into Hamburg(6 hours) or just say "fuck it" and fly
instead(1 hour)?

Once in Hamburg, snag a couple pints before we catch a train up to Itzehoe, and
finally the shuttle into WACKEN!! (there will be much rejoicing) :D

Ohhh they should stop procrastinating and get to it lol! That sounds nice :)

Well I guess it depends on which is cheaper and more convenient :)

Sounds like a plan, yeey! :D

I would go by train because that way I don't have to care about how much stuff I'd take with me.
But since you already took a plane to get to Amsterdam, so that shouldn't be a problem
plane might be faster but, you first have to get to the airport with a train. probably be at the airport early since it's in the middle of the summer vacation and it'll be busy.
And the train leaves from the center of the city.
remember though, the earlier you book the train the cheaper it'll be!
Though, you might be late already.

in general a train is cheaper if you book your ticket on time, which is 91 days before the trip, which is the moment the tickets start selling.
You get a "super discount fair" which will be 40 euro if I'm not mistaken.

For real! Vacations are supposed to be about avoiding stress, not
creating more! Friends are visiting family over in Holland before
we're supposed to meet in Amsterdam to head over. I've already
lined up how to get to Wacken from Hamburg so that really isn't
gonna be a problem for me. I do wanna take in some sights but
it's not like any of us will have time fore EVERY "touristy" thing
there is to do, so it's best to pick and choose. At the least, the
sooner we get to Wacken is the sooner we get to rage. Wacken
pre-game from Tues leading up to kickoff on Thurs is said to be
legendary so it'd be criminal to miss out!!
