The point is the "exportation" of one language.
The Scandinavian languages, Finnish, Icelandic, Faröers etc. have never been exported outside of their territories. Compared to English, Spanish, Dutch, and other languages.
I think there's a problem there too.

ANY foreign language is useful!
I mean, if Finnish weren't SO F*%&$NG complicated, I'd try to learn it! But in that sense, Swedish would be easier, because it's more logic than Finnish!

Yeah I doubt I'd ever really use Swedish. But kinda useful yeah..

more usefull than finish :D

Well I kinda had to learn Finnish because it's my mother tongue :p

At least you can work in both Sweden and Åland, as well as in the rest of Finnland with these 2 languages. (and byond, for those countries that need a Finnish/Swedish contact.)
But wherever you go, you'll need to learn the language. (though within the EU you are not obliged to! Which is something different then "need to". )

We had to learn Dutch. 't Is niet anders. (it's like that) :p

Well I can't because I can't speak Swedish. And you don't really need Swedish in many parts of Finland. I wouldn't move to a place where they don't know how to speak Finnish...

And you know, that's the thing. They force us to study Swedish. Maybe if it wasn't mandatory more people would actually learn it and like studying it, unlike now. For example I really wanna learn German. It wouldn't be like that if I was forced into it.
