'Status Quo are contemplating a reunion with their former rhythm section of bassist Alan Lancaster and drummer John Coghlan.
The news of the four getting back together will surprise many long-term Quo watchers, however, Lancaster sued Quo after being excluded from a post-Live Aid reunion, but buried the hatchet with Francis Rossi and Rick Parfitt during Quo's visit to Australia last year. The reconnection - in whatever form it takes - will also feature John Coghlan, who quit in late 1981 during the recording of the 1982 album.
'Alan called to say he was sorry, and it was great to see him,' Rossi tells Classic Rock. 'He's coming over to the UK in a couple of months' time to be part of a documentary that we're working on. So Rick and i said: 'If we're gonna be in the same room together, maybe we should do a show ... or something?' We haven't decided what will happen yet, but it's exciting because i never thought i would work with those guys again. And now possibly we will.'
Perhaps surprisingly, when asked how such a reunion might affect John 'Rhino' Edwards, Lancaster's replacement, Rossi replies :'He's absolutely fine about it. In fact he's tried to persuade us to do this for many years. It's an unusual situation. And of course Andrew (Bown) would also have to be involved as he's been with us since 1974 onwards, i believe.'
The documentary to which Rossi refers is being directed by the Emmy-nominated Alan G Parker. It will be titled Hello Quo! , but won't be released until the autumn of 2012.
