Don't get me wrong, I'm with you there! I just really wish I'd understood that girl better so our conversation could have...er, progressed.

Me, I've never met a European accent I didn't like...especially coming from a pretty girl. There's a few American accents that turn me off (NYC and West Virginia come to mind), but the rest are okay, hehe.

The last time I was in Boston, I was in the airport, about to board my plane back home, when this beautiful brunette bumped into me. She turns to me, and in the thickest South Boston accent, says, "Oh geez, I'm like wicked sawrry!" I've wanted to go back to Boston ever since.

For me it is a Berlin or Brandenburg accent that does it - I grew up in Berlin and the slobbish and sometimes rude way they speak german, I just love it.

I like a lot of American accents - Boston is one of my fav cities and people speak a beautiful accent there. Still, I apparently have this thing for rudeness. Glasgow was heaven. Christchurch, NZ, was unbelievable. Kiwi girls are for the most part just rotten when they're drunk. And the coolest thing was, there my manners worked for the first time. To open a door for a lady from sometimes really tended to open up their hearts. Apparently male New Zealanders forgot their manners around 1880. When we were in a bar on my second night, I just kind of normally held a door open for a lady - and she freezed, looked at me in an astonished way and uttered the words "You must be european".

It was cool, the guys are fun but mostly no real competition, apparently courting down there mainly consists of buying your loved one lots of beers.

I can relate to your feelings though...the girls I've always been most attracted to have been a little less "town" and a little more "country". i.e., ones who love the outdoors, ones who don't shudder at the thought of mud, ones who eat meat and drink beer, ones who can curse a blue streak and then be sweet as sugar, etc. they tend to appreciate manners rather than expect them.

Thanks for the tip about NZ, though...I'll have to visit there sometime.

I love that! I'm terribly shy and will never go up to a girl and talk to her. But I'll always do the gentlemanly stuff, and in NZ that constantly meant getting to know all kinds of women. And then I'm cool, I can do the talking stuff, be a little entertainig and stuff.
