While we're talking about language, can someone explain to me just what Kolsch is? I know it's a German dialect but what makes it different from, let's say, Hochdeutsch?

Kölsch is the dialect of Cologne (=Köln)
and.....
a type of beer brewed in Cologne as well. (A bright colored beer, with app. 5% alcohol VOL)

You know what Hochdeutsch is. (compare the Queen's English)

Well, Kölsch is a dialect from Cologne, but just what it sounds like compared to Hochdeutsch is hard to explain. You should listen to it then you'll know better.

There's also a beer from that region called Kölsch, but it sucks big time! :D
And even worse, they only serve it in 0.2l glasses! No wonder Cologne is also one of the german cities which is reknowned for its gay community! But we're digressing! :D

Ach Sothi, komm! In NL kriegst du genau dasselbe Bier wie Kölsch in genau die selbe Glasgrösse.

Ich find's OK um ab und zu zu trinken.

My German Professor told me to watch some Stefan Raab on Youtube. From what I can understand, this guy is fuckin hilarious, and I think he speaks Koelsch, right?

Kölsch is like "Limburgs" here (or in NL) and Dutch is the official language.

Dann geet ut so un beetchen wie dit. Moar ich moss toegève da ich nich so god in Limburgs schrieve kenn.
