Yeah we were able to get third world support from the US.....
Otherwise no running water, lootings from the vikings and the crusades are really tough....

The conversion is changing day to day..but not by much...would say by a few cents..but normally is the Euro 1 to 1 like you said.

However, I think it depends on where you exchange your cash...you might hit an exchange rate. I havent exchanged my money in a long time...so I cant remember where I hit the rate..I think it was in the states...Call your bank and ask them...or call an international air port near you...that might work.. ;-)

Really? Sure, it's cash only at the festival (unless some of the vendors took cards and I jsut missed it). I brought my Visa card with me, and used it all over the place - especially in the town of Wacken. The exchange rate Visa used on the charges to my acct kicked the shit out of any of the money changers - a commission-free 94 cents on the Euro compared to the 97 or so that the exchanges were offering (before commission)! Once I found that out I charged everything I could to the Visa...even if it was 1 Euro for a liter of water at the BP station in Wacken. :)

It's Traveler's Cheques that were really worthless...nobody in Germany wanted to take those! Was finally able to convince a restaurant manager in Wacken to take mine...after only a little begging and pleading, haha.

Anyhow, it's those fuckin' money exchangers who will really hose you. Those commissions hurt! Bastards! :D

I dunno, Ive been trying to use my credit card every where for the past friggen 6 months and no one takes it! The only places that do are H&M and the fucking ATM machines here...and of course there is an enormous finance charge on top of it.

As for Wacken, every Venders I went to was strickly cash....I think wacken needs an ATM Machine with in the grounds cause the year before last year I had to walk all the way into town and wait a whole long time for the machine. That sucked...oh well...:)
