The other way around?I don't understand :(
Bruges is Dutch speaking. Not French like Québec. And the Dutch speakers are in a majority overall.
My boyfriend like war stuff, I like Gothic stuff - which is why I want to go there. I guess it's only about 45 minutes by train?

He should go to Ypres (Ieper) to the Menenpoort (Porte de Menin) at 10pm, whatever day. They're playing "The Last Post" there.

I'm not so well known in Gothic things. But the city center should be enough. And you might see some things of WW I or WW II.

Brussels - Brugge is 56/58min by train. A direct from the axe North-South/Midi. (Br.Nord is 1.05/07h, Central is 4min less)

Yes but aren't automatic cars harder to find for rent there?

A friend of mine doesn't have any problem with it. He has a drivers' licence which only allows him to drive auto. Since he doesn't own a car (yet), he has rented automatics rather easilly, I must say. It's just a question of making reservations in advance. (at least, that what he did)

Edit Piaf zegt: In the Netherlands, I have to add this, he hasn't tried it abroard yet!

I know we have to rent a car for at least 1 day but it will be easier just to take whatever they have as I can drive either one but when we go to the UK we will have to make sure to know how to go with public transport. I know the tube is great in London but I wonder about the rest of the country.

Ask Carpathian Wolf. He should know, he lives in the UK, and outside London.

Automatics are not as wide spread as in the US but you should be able to get them tho. Atleast I know you can here in Holland.

I tried to find one in Belgium, in case Chris wanted to drive, but then he told me he'd prefer the train, and in the end we ended up going by car anyway, but my wife drove, meaning we had a full car, 4 people and a trailer, and only 1 driver!

But it's possible in Belgium, though not that easy, but not impossible either.
