True, but unfortunately sometimes the purpose involves posting it online. In that case, it isn't, though likely he would have posted a pic of the completed tattoo online since people do that.
For me though, my avatar is mine and mine alone. My design. I would be pissed if anyone stole it for any reason. But I want to use it in places like here or Facebook to represent me. So keeping it secret might keep it safe, but I still would rather not.

I totally understand. You could always put a little mark in it or something but you would have to register that as 'your trademark' in order for you to be able to do anything about it if someone yoinked it. It sucks that we have completely lost all right to anything that we create these days.
