That's fantastic for your kids, so you are worried if you give yours up they won't have dual anymore? Can they really take it away after the fact like that, or am I not understanding?

Under the OLD rules, if I were to give up my citizenship, my kids (all minor) would automatically loose their Dutch citizenship as well. (and remain Belgian)

But.. like I said, UNDER NO CIRCONSTANCES do I want to give up my Dutch citizenship! And now with the "new" rules, I can obtain the Belgian citizenship, without loosing my Dutch one.

There's however still some work to be done, to find out its complete consequences.

The only point of difficulty: I have to apply in French, but the requirements say: knowledge of ONE of the three national languages, Dutch/French/German. I'd prefer Dutch of course, but I can't.

Though... I'd be one of the very few Dutch speaking Walloons!
