I've got an Iphone and I'm actually very happy with it as it is the first phone that doesn't crash all the time.

*runs and hides*

:D

I'd be lying if I said the iPhone isn't a great phone (and that Apple isn't a quality company). I just can't stand the popularity of anything Apple, and how their fans are so devoted to their products it's practically a cult. That combined with being locked into Apple's OS, Apple's products, Apple-approved apps etc... open-source Android is much more my style. Plus the iPhones are known for being easy to break (drop it once on a hard surface, you're probably screwed) so you pretty much need a durable case to make it worth having.

The whole cult of Apple proprietary bullshit is what pisses me off. I'm a big proponent of open source. They piss me off with their 'new' phones - exactly the same as the old ones really just people 'have' to have them.

Some people argue that that's the case with any smartphone. But it's not - a lot of the better smartphones these days have Gorilla glass, making them far more durable than the iPhone or anything else.

That's why I'd never consider a smartphone without it (or something better in the future). My new one's going to be even more durable though - it's also got Kevlar backing. :D

I know what you mean - the 4S is basically just the 4 with Siri. Costs $100 more though (and was $150 more up until like a week ago when they cut prices for the new one).

It's the popularity mostly though. I look around in my class right now and I see three of them within 15ft of me. They're everywhere, and that gets annoying fast.

That's super important! I drop my phone constantly.

Exactly - everyone does. I don't know why durability is so overlooked. Most phone reviews don't even mention it, unless it's a brief note that it has Gorilla glass. They do tons of benchmarks and battery tests but you have to go to Youtube to find a drop test.

Working in electronics, I can't tell you how often I hear about people who dropped their phone and broke it. They might have had an iPhone or some other smartphone but now they have to get a cheap prepaid phone to put on their contract because theirs didn't even last two years so they can't upgrade.
