"Can I get a price check?"
"Sure" *walks over*
*guy points to two phones with price tags*
"Um... that one's 128 and that one's 99."
"Yes but how much is that with tax?"
"Tax is 7%"
"Which is how much?"

Idiots. If you know you're going to want to know the exact price of something, bring a calculator. We're here to help check you out, find things, and explain how things work. Not do things you can (or should be able to) do yourself, like basic math.

In other news, I hate what they're doing to my department manager. She was talking to someone else about how she's taking all the blame for the catastrophe that is electronics. It's not her fault any more than it is the rest of ours. And it's not fair that she's constantly criticized by both customers and management. I feel really bad for her.

I'll make her cookies or something. If nobody else does, I want her to feel like somebody appreciates her.

I just had a brilliant idea.

Given that I generally like my job (or I would given better management), and the main problem is the management, there's an easy way to get a decent idea of what stores I should try to change to.

Just show up anytime after 5pm in the next week. And just observe.

I can find out firsthand what it's like at that store during the holidays and compare it to here - how busy it is, how long it takes for customers to be helped, how many people there are working vs how many people need help, etc.

If I just go around visiting some stores I have in mind for just 15 mins or so each, that'll tell me better than anything else whether or not I really want to work there this time next year. Because I'll be somewhere this time next year (or else I'm really in trouble lol).

I'm already at one of the best jobs I could have at my age and without a degree. It's way better than fast food, working at a grocery store, being a cashier, or even being a sales associate in any other department. I don't particularly like Walmart, but besides that, I'm pretty lucky to be working in electronics.

Solution: find another electronics store with better management. If I can do that, and get hired, I'll be a happy camper.

Not that I expect to just walk in somewhere and be handed a job. But given my experience, I'll be a no-brainer over most everyone else. Just have to get and then nail the interview.
