I stayed in Camp A when I went. Only once I woke up to camping buddies yapping outside of my tent (I went back to sleep straight away). The only other times my sleep was disturbed was waking up cold and of course the crack of dawn (from which there was no return). It was mighty handy having actual Wacken neighbours (or perhaps the owners of the property...I'm not sure) selling hot beverages from their back yard and snacks throughout the day.

I did bring some food that I bought in Hamburg (just some fruit and milk). I just put it in a cold storage bag and put it in the fridge of my hotel before I left. It all stayed fresh for the duration of the festival I would have bought some vegetables too but by the time we got to that corner store all the vegies were limp.

It was probably just a resident from Wacken. They all sell stuff during the festival

Funny you woke up from being cold. I always only wake up at festivals when the tent is so hot I can't stand it any longer xD

This is also the reason I don't envy anyone learning English as a second language and why I simply assume all other languages in the world would be easier to learn...except French

I think it is impossible to say which language is hardest to learn. It always depends on your first language and what kind of grammar you are used to but also how you are used to pronouncing words and letters. It also affects a lot if we hear the language all the time (I guess it's good for us that movies, series etc aren't dubbed so we actually hear english, swedish and german and sometimes even some other languages).

For me hardest letter to pronounce in english (kind of used to it already) and german (sometimes I get it right but usually not) is R.

Anyway the weather at night time exactly matched the sort of weather I left back at home (which is our version of winter). Day time temperatures were comparable to our early to mid-spring. My sleeping bag was sufficiently keeping my body warm but my poor head felt the drop in temperature. I specifically recall pulling my sleeping bag over my head and pulling the draw-string as tight as I could, leaving a 1cm diameter hole where I could breathe.

The other "issue" I had was I basically drank myself to sleep every night so I was awake between 5 and 6 o'clock most mornings. The whole falling into a deep sleep within 10 seconds flat, then waking up to alcohol-induced tachycardia from the first sign of light did the trick. Had I gone to sleep sober I would have woken up from the heat in the tent too. Strange how it got so hot and humid in there, yet the space between my tent and my fly kept our beers cool.

Finnchick is totally right. For German and Dutch people e.g. English is a very, very simple language to learn. For Spanish people it's way easier to learn French than English. For a Japanese person it will probably be easier to learn Chinese than English etc. It really depends on how similar the languages are to the first language, not only because it'll be easier to learn the vocab and grammar but mostly, because of the familiar way of thinking/verbalising your thinking.

They sell showers? Never heard of that. I might actually take them up on that if I ever end up at Wacken again. I can't deal with camping showers, I need somewhere like a hotel or a house. Would be nice to rinse off on say the Saturday so I don't stink up the trains.

Yea, they'll offer you to shower in their house for roughly 2 euros. At least some do. Just look at the signs they put up on their houses or in their yards
