I know htere is a backpackers hotel near the station, just can't remember the name, it was pretty cheap.
I went there with two other forum members in 2006 when we had a forum meeting in Köln.

Seriously I know the anime is badly translated and highly overrated in general but the games are pretty much the best RPG series out there even if the character design is not for you.

It's been out so long, several people (including me) grew up with it... we were kids when we started, we just never stopped. Because it's cool.

The anime was only good for the Kanto/Orange Islands bit. It was still entertaining in Johto, but by now, the plot has pretty much been reduced to

Not really.
Actually a lot of people I know started playing the games around ages 18-20 or even older, just because every person with any knowledge of RPG games will tell you they are amazing.
But your right, I played the games when I was young and actually enjoyed the anime back then.

Well in Japanese there are a lot of jokes involved in the series and it's mostly boiling down into a comedy, though that's near impossible to translate.
But the anime is aimed more at kids, so it's no surprise if your not into that.
