Step 4: Add more oil because that wasn't enough
Step 5: Put potato slices in fryer after it heats up to unknown temperature
Step 6: Question why one button on the fryer is smoking
Step 7: Google why the fryer is smoking
Step 8: Brainstorm plan in case of fire
Step 9: Button stops smoking so enjoy fries
