Wouldn't know about the USA really. Sure there are some local festivals, no matter how small?

And yeah some of those aren't that far from NL by car. But they are still pretty massive I doubt the trouble from crowds you described is that much less there.

I actually know a few people that went to Summer Breeze last year and it's not like they were alone either. ;)

The main thing with most US festivals is the lack of the camping area. So most of so-called fests are just big shows with a lot of bands. Some of them are fairly decent (Progpower USA here in Atlanta is pretty good - I haven't been though, too expensive) but they're nothing like Europe's. I've heard of a couple festivals with camping, but the lineups aren't that good (depending on your tastes obviously).

I don't know how big Summer Breeze is, but Brutal Assault and Bloodstock I know from experience are far better. They only have somewhere around 10K people. They're bigger than regular shows here obviously, but more than tolerable.

Yeah the difference between 10k and 75k people attending is very noticeable. Certainly when a headliner attracts them all.

I might also be a bit biased towards smaller festivals though. :p Before my first Wacken in 2009, I went to two tiny ones with something like 2-5K each. So Wacken was a drastic change. :D

Yeah same here, but after a few times you get used to these big festivals really, I don't really think one is better than the other, they are just different. I really enjoy myself at Wacken each year no matter how many people show up. Then again I'd probably enjoy myself even if none of the bands showed up so.

That works too. In the end it's always a matter of personal preference.

Best, Nederland. Jetzt Belgien
Hast du ein Problem mit deutsch? :o

Actually I think usually there's Dutch here more often lately.
So you should learn DUTCH!

Heb het zó vaak gezegd! :D:D:D
Now for something completely different, I know the Wacken staff doesn't really look here, but is there any place where you can report second hand ticket dealers? I've seen some very official looking websites selling normal (so not x-mas) tickets for 190€.
headquarter@wacken.com (evt. met 'n 's' ertussen)

Ow! :o
