ah that sucks... and isn't really what music is supposed to be about, imo
it's not like some math formula or physics concept or something, it's just music... a creative art... it's not supposed to be analyzed like you would with other scientific, logic-based stuff. I mean sure, if you were to write a piece of music, you have to know about chord structures and stuff like that... but otherwise... it's supposed to be free, if you know what I mean.
'cut me some slack' is like a slangish phrase to mean like 'give me a break', 'don't expect too much', etc

Well, it's a little different in Germany then in the US. I mean I was in choir and orchestra class last year so you can be sure I know, what I'm talking about.

Well, but there are certain... uhm... measures for composing music. Ok, modern music is like completely freed of those, but look at all the sonatas by romantic composers. There are a few similarities.
