Sorry, I disagree with you.
Let's put myself in a situation I could have my eyes operated so I can see normally. I'd refuse. Same reason, I'm afraid of losing my sight.

(not the best comparison, I know, but the idea is the same. And @Rufus, I'm sighted, meannig I do not see well, but I can see)
