of course...the case will usually be that alcohol is involved...this makes people's ability to raise their own hopes very easy...

and if you allow me to get slightly philisophical...if we look at this from a more .... utilitarian viewpoint, it would benifit both parties to simply state their actual intentions..
eg.
"would you like a drink?"
"yeah, but i'm not intending on sleeping with you"
"oh, well that was my only intention, so I'll just try elsewhere"
"thanks. have a nice life."
"you too"
of course, this never happens in human interaction...
eg.

I hope you're not thinking I'm talking about myself or any certain incident in the past, I am talking about general human actions, and as you very well know I at least do not conform to usual human actions.
