you can change that, a little... try putting pillows in the drum. doesn't sound like it'll work, but it takes out the boom and leaves more of a thud. my friend's got pillows in his, and it sounds awesome.

hmm...i have a towel in there right now. Now that you mention a pillow, i dont think a towel is really doing jack sh!t anyhow, haha..

the hole is actually rather small in my bass drum. i managed to fit one rather floppy old pilllow in there though. i want to test it but my moms taking a nap...


whenever i hit one of my toms or the bass drum, my snare rattles a bit. do you think i could put some masking tape on there to stop that? its really annoying

nope, didn't see arch enemy... even better
don't think you put them in through the hole... unscrew the drumhead, and then put them in.
and yea, do whatever works... my friend's got duct tape on his snare, and i've seen people put wallets and other various items to stop the rattling

Your snare drum maybe touching the bass drum. try moving it slightly.
or put something under the snare stand to cut down the vibration to the snare that is causing the rattle.(like a small piece of carpet)
or tighten the snares a little.
