I'm still older than you and with 18 I'm adult in germany. And it's also because I know Quark personally and know ways to contact him in case your parents can't do so by other ways.

Btw. I was in the same situation with Quark and my parents as you are now so they may consider my "case" interesting.

Having another adress is also always a matter of being sure. And it's not like I don't have parents which are indeed adult

The difference in culture between "us" Europeans and Americans. Their point of view is different.

And I can understand them. They've got to trust someone they don't know, and never seen.
