I think esperanto is kinda dead and has been like that for quite some years.
Also esperanto is way to european based, you might as wel pick a european language that most people already know.

well spanish has about the same amount of native speakers as english. but english is way more known throughout the world, it has way more people that know it as a second language, more than any langue.
