I think it's funny, but musically it isn't really my thing.

I think my biggest problem with it is the pop influence on the image of the "band". Metal is supposed to be about everyone in the band, no matter how old or fugly they they are. No-one seems to know or care who's playing the instruments (who sound pretty damned good at what they do!), and what is Babymetal without three super cute Japanese school girls? I anticipate an expiry date, followed by substance abuse. Give me 65 year old musicians with 15 year old fans any day.

How do you feel about Butcher Babies? A band very different from Babymetal, but would they have as much fans as they do if the singers didn't look like they do? I hate to see this thing about looks mattering more coming to metalscene too.

I had to google that :ugly:

Well, they can't help being born hot :p On one hand, Butcher Babies seem like they could age gracefully with their fans for many years to come (like Doro), because it's not about trying to pull off the image of an adolescent child (plus make-up can do wonders :p). On the other hand, they're leaving themselves open to "fans" who only like them because they're hot, or people who won't ever take them seriously, just because they're hot.

Take Arch Enemy for example, when Alissa joined the band. I read so much shit like "oh, surprise surprise, another female singer". Yeah, never mind the fact that she is actually a really fucking good singer, had already established a really good rapport with the band, and had something like 10 years experience performing (globally)...nah, they just hired her cos she's got a pretty face. :uff:

Sex sells. It's an old marketing thing.
Google Rockbitch and you'll see it for yourselves.

Butcher Babies isn't my thing. I have seen them at Hellfest last time.

Yeah but I heard they've performed topless and everything. :D But yeah.

To me it's somewhat obvious that Arch Enemy would continue with female lead singers, and it's good that they did.

Of course.

Yeah I don't like them either.

Oh yeah I've heard about Rockbitch at some point. Is it true that they in some way pick members of audience to have sex with them? :D Weird.

I had a friend who played bass/vocals in a solo grind project (unless he was able to get a drummer, then it would be two-piece). Only time I got to see him perform that project, he played in his birthday suit :ugly: Fun times :D

As far as sound goes, it really wouldn't matter if a man or woman fronted Arch Enemy. They made a fantastic choice by hiring her, for sure :)

Haha. :D

Yeah, I agree. But it's nice to have some metal bands that style with female singers.

Last time I saw them, they were fully dresses.

Yeah well that's good. :p

They would throw a golden condom in the crowd. The one that caught it was the "lucky" one who could have sex with one of the band members.

Oh yeah. :KO:
