Swedish is mandatory in Finland because Sweden ruled in here for a long time ages ago. English is also mandatory but you can choose to start it in 3rd grade or later, depending on if you start studying French or German or something. And also of course Finnish is mandatory, so yeah in here we have to study 3 different languages.

I only had to learn 2 languages but I'm still not exactly an expert in either one

I was good at Swedish before but when I went to high school I was just horrible

I was rubbish at german at school. but once I didn't have to study german anymore and went to germany for all the festivals I could make myself somewhat understandable

Yeah of course! That's why they shouldn't make it mandatory to study some language, except for your own language and English.

In Flandern, French was mandatory. The other way around, a 2nd language is mandatory. But doesn't have to be Dutch. I think that's stupid and ridiculous. Learn your own languages first. Then a new one.

Yup! I've always been bad in grammar, no matter the language. English has been very easy to learn because it's heard everywhere. I wish I had started studying German when I was in 3rd grade..

No.
Either French, German or English, as long as you do 1 other language. (I can't say "foreign" here, as both French, German and Dutch are official languages here, thus not making them foreign.)
