Don't count on it When I worked for Hungry Jack's (Burger King) I remember one time one of the boys who was on burger making duties was really really sick with a cold and wasn't permitted to leave. He was sniffling all over the place; kind of fucked up.

I think it was that same year when I was going to a vocational school, it was the same deal with the tuckshop lady...sniffling as she packed my potato wedges

Most places like that don't pay for sick days and most people can't afford to miss work so this is what happens. Personally If I'm really sick I won't go in. Right now I just have a little sniffles, it's not bad enough for me to take the day off though I don't have any appointments booked tomorrow so I might stay home anyway depends how I feel later.

Food health departments here are kind of strickt here.
In that case, you can't work while sick, afraid to contaminate everyone here.
We've had enough scandals with food the last years as it is. (horse meat, instead of beef meat, dioxine scandal, hormones in meat etc)
