I always thought that would be cool to do.

It was basically the only thing to do if you wanted to get into sports around my area. Except Soccer or Basketball. Or Volleyball. I utterly suck at all three of them.

wow, the three sports I've actually either done at a certain point, or like
basketball: tried for one season, hated it, wasn't any good either
soccer: did for six years, but got tired of running so much... I still like to play on occasion though
volleyball: never played officially, but I enjoy it
