I was a member of an online gaming clan called Rentner.
We all wanted to have strange nicks, so I went for [Rentner]Morgenurin - which means what you all suspect :D
That's the whole story

I relate to warthogs. They, like me, are ugly, four-legged, and smell bad.

...

Okay, this just goes way back to when I was 13 and first got AOL (circa 1993) - all the others teenagers who logged on got stupid names like "Coolguy123" and "Soccerguy" and "BEERDUDE 420". Even the metal people in the chat rooms didn't have much imagination...it was all "Metlhed666" and "MaidenRulz" and "TALLICA". So I went through a succession of increasingly weird screen name...RancidButr and ButtFrost and other stuff that's only funny when you're 13. Just so whenever I went into a chat room, people were like, "What the $%@$! is that supposed to mean?" One of these was EvilWarthog...and the latter part of that name is just something I've been going back to ever since.

I think my nick looks cool - near symmetry, nice design.

I also like the sound of it - at one time I was interested in starting a band which would mix the Young Gods with Darkthrone and Sielwolf. It's name would have been monochrom.

People mostly think it is because I only wear black - NOT TRUE, although the majority of my clothes are still of that colour.

No meaning really. I was coming up with viking-sounding names once for some reason, and Ormir was one of them. Then a few years ago I was registering for a forum, and the name I picked first was taken, so I just took Ormir. And it's somehow stuck with me ever since.

My nick name gnoff
well, it started in 1990, we were playing a game on the old NES, I believe it was "Swords and Serpents" and I needed a name for my warrior, gnoff justed popped out and after that I've used this name for logging on to the internet.

It has gone so long that some people started calling me this and don't even no my real name. So in April of this year I added gnoff as one of my real names, I even have it on my drivers license now :)

I once bought a motorcycle to which a friend of mine remarked "it looks like a pig thats been in a swamp ( it was green and rusty and sort of short and stumpy) hence SWAMPIG!!! It now goes like fuck, eats just about anything on the road, has lost me my licence once, and is now various colours so that the same friend calls it a lollypop and im not changing my nick to lollypop!!!

Aegir (from Norse mythology)

"The meaning of his name is associated with water. He was also called Hler and Gymir [the Blinder] (the name of Gerd's father -- it is not known if they are one and the same). Aegir was the god of the seashore or ocean, and called the ruler of the sea by Snorri. He was a personification of the ocean, be it good or evil."

I've had this nick for centuries...

Well, You ask me 'bout the clothes I wear
And you ask me why I grow my hair
And you ask me why I'm in a band
And you ask me why I like to dance
And you ask me why I like to play
I got to get my kicks some way
and you ask me what I'm all about
Come and let me hear you shout
and you wanna see me do my thing
All you gotta do is plug me into high...I said high...
High voltage Rock'n'Roll

Not because of this song, but theese lines describes me well...
And I'm a rocker, always been :)

Mine has quite a strange derivation:

It started when me and a friend were recording us just randomly talking into a microphone that was recording to a tape deck, and we started doing a pretend-radio thing. And for some reason I introduced myself as DJ Jie.

The name was then not used again until about a week ago when I was doing band logos for non-existent bands (a common cure for boredom) and I came up with a doom band called Jie but spelt djae (with lower-case d). I then decided to use it as my username more often in stuff.

I've gone through a slight evolution with regards to usernames on message boards. I started as morbid_angel on the metal-is messageboard (pretty obvious why :)) then started calling myself IronMan (after the Sabbath song). My most common name, however, is Lilkerdude, after Dan Lilker of, well, lots of bands :).
