Last year in Wacken I wanted to buy this DImmu Borgir like long skirt for males yet I didnt due to 2 reasons : first, it was like 86 euros n second there aren't really a lot of occasions to wear these kind of garments, the only I really see myself wearing one is @ big summer festivals....
Here in Hellgium I think a lot of ppl would mock you for wearing one which is quite a shame

Just my 2 cents but this "awww" thing isnt this especially used when u find something cute ? Like when a girl comes up to you and says she loves you (hmmh thats been quite a while now), I'm mostly like "aww"
But indeed there's a "sad" factor involved, her wanting to waste her life, so I actually get your point
