@cxm
The weather forecast is looking very good. It will not be a deep mud Wacken. I am certain you will have no issue driving. As last guy said even if you would have issues there are peoples helping. Sometimes in light mud which is all that we will get even 10 metalheads pushing can be enough.

Updated.

Unfortunately the Deutschlandticket is not mentioned. I have/Zombi has reached the limit of 10,000 characters.

Therefore I'll put it here.

The DEUTSCHLANDTICKET is a subscription travel card, which allows you to freely travel with ALL regional transport (RB, RE, IRE trains, trams/streetcars, U-Bahn, S-Bahn, buses) within Germany, and this from the 1st day of any month (for instance: 1 January, 1 July...) until the last day of that same month! (e.g. 31 January, 28 (29) February, 30 June...).
The card can be bought ONLINE only, but it can be a bit difficult if you're from outside of Germany (and decide to stay a month or a bit shorter). Best way: The BREMEN TRANSPORT AUTHORITY makes it fairly easy to buy one. (pay per credit card)
However, you do NOT want to forget to UNSUBSCRIBE it before the 10th of each month! If you do forget, it'll cost another €49 again!
Do not forget that 1 August is IN the Wacken week. If you need one for August, be prepared to do so before, or.. try it to do online in Wacken.

Updated to the 2025 situation, as good as I can. Nah.sh has the tendency not to show prices of any combination with the HVV in Hamburg, as Hamburg is a different state of its own. :uff:
And DB doesn't show it eiter, as it's a regional matter.

Due to construction work between the stations Hamburg Main Station and Itzehoe, no regular trains will be operating. Travellers to Itzehoe from Hamburg (Airport/Main/Altona) will have to get the S3 in Hamburg Main to Pinneberg. In Pinneberg, you'll have to change to the RE6 (Westerland (Sylt)), or RB61 (Itzehoe), to continue your journey.
For the return, the same thing. RE6/RB61 will run until Pinneberg, where you'll have to get the S3 back to Hamburg Hbf (and then the S1 to the airport, if needed).

Trains msy be full between Hamburg and Pinneberg v.v.

The ICE (from Hamburg to Westerland (Sylt)) run normally! Be aware that an extra supplement is required, and that regional tickets (HVV, NAH.SH) are NOT valid!

Extra information: from the airport to Pinneberg, it's also possible to get the X95 bus to Pinneberg. This bus runs every hour at 5 past the hour.

From Pinneberg to the airport: every hour, 19 past the hour.

About the construction works on the railway line from Hamburg to Elmshorn (direction Itzehoe).

I'm also told by someone who travelled today, that there is also a Rail Replacement Bus between the stations of Hamburg Hbf (main) and Elmshorn. These buses will run as long as these works continue.
Those buses will leave from the ZOB (central bus station) in Hamburg main. (Adenauer Straße, platform 17)
In Elmshorn it should be close to the station, at its ZOB (central bus station).
I don't know about departure times though. A quick search on bahn.com only shows the S3 variant, exept for the evening hours.
