Not pounds as in the currency of the UK, but pounds as in the backwards measurement of weight we still use here. In my store's inventory database, for instance, fishing line is categorized as "10#", "25#", etc. Just one of those shorthands that no one remembers.

I mean, before the dawn of email, who really knew that @ stood for "at"? :D
