Hello, there is so much bass / bass drum in especially Harder and Faster stages that you can't even recognize the songs. How mixing guys not picking this up?

At the Gates and Hypocrisy was almost unbearable to listen.

pure Bass basically, i could barely recognize and teh voice was just mushy

I agree with you, but bands typically bring their own soundengineers, so i think Wacken sadly doesn't have a lot of control over this aspect... But i really appreciate when a band has a stellar engineer, you really hear the difference. Behemoth and Powerwolf as well as Amon Amarth this year come to mind.

What i can say is that the hearing protection you use makes a big difference. The free ones typically suck ass. I feel like a small investment here is definitely worth it. I notice a huuuge difference between brands as well. And of course i'd never go back from my custom-molded earplugs ;)
