Leaving Wacken

Will there be a big traffic jam leaving Wacken Sunday morning? I imagine with that many people leaving at once things will get backed up. Will there be a long wait for the shuttle?

Would it be better to leave Saturday night after the last show that I want to see?

yes and yes, but not if you get up early. (like 6 or so)

I dunno bout leaving saturday, never done it, but I think quite a few people leave after the last band, so you might have to wait a bit then as well.

Thanks. Do I need to purchase a ticket in advance to get a ride on the S-bahn from Itzehoe back to Hamburg?(due to the higher number of people likely to be riding at the same time) or should I be able to buy one on the spot?

You'll be able to buy one on the spot, though there may be a bit of a line. There's no real guarantee of a seat on those trains anyway...
