There are some Far Side cartoons that are immediately funny to anyone (the classic "Midvale School for the Gifted" is a prime example) of even marginal intelligence. There are some that require a little thought - and then you crack up. There are some that are just loose and corny. And then there's some that just roll over everyone's heads (including Gary Larson's own, as he admits in Pre-history of the Far Side).

But yeah, he's a fucking genius.
