My guess is that this number is fake. If I'm correct all area codes in the UK must start with 1. But correct me if I'm wrong.

44 is the national dialling code for the UK. :D
All mobile numbers start 07.
Most landline area codes start 01.

It could be a real number but it's probably a number the guy just pulled from thin air.

Thanks for the insider. Didn't think about mobile numbers though.

But after verifying, I found out that a friend of mine has a UK mobile, and it starts with 079... (for thouse outside UK +44 79)

Gnoff - you won't believe it, but yesterday morning I wanted to push this thread - before you did so - it seems like there is a new wave of scams travelling over the world.

Someone I know received yet another variation of a "Nigerian message" (well, South African in this case)...





And I don't get any spam at all... :confused:

(maybe because I hit the "Empty Spam Folder" link WITHOUT looking into the actual spam folder!!!) :D
