Exactly! Not to mention that they also have buildings preserved since antiquity, along with all that history. Shit, my neighbors talk about my house being the "old" house in the neighborhood just because it was the first one built...20 years ago!!

I know people where the families are living in the same house since the 16th or 17th century....
But so what??

What is all the fuss about?
A lot of angy americans confront Europe by reminding them of the second world war and how they liberated Europe.
My dear Americans. Who helped to build up your first Army? Right a German. Who helped you with the Brits? Right the French! Who gave you the statue of Liberty? The French! Where do you come from in the first place?
So I'd rather say we are all one big family....

...well okay even in the best families quarells occur....

haha, It's really this grand superiority complex we've built up ever since the US actually became a world power (maybe 120 years ago or so). We're taught from a young age that the Americans are always the good guys because we're good and moral and democratic, and we never do anything wrong and wherever there's injustice in the world, the US military throws on its blue tights and red cape and goes to defeat the evildoers. And we were taught that the US always won any war they were involved in because they were right and they were fighting bad people, be it the Brits, the Mexicans, the Spanish, the Nazis, the Japanese, etc. (and yes, most history books back then casually gloss over Vietnam)

I remember growing up the '80s, when we were all taught that the Soviet Union was an evil empire and the US had to stop them before they spread the evils of communism over the whole world.

I don't know, patriotism is a good and positive thing to a point, but not when it boils over into arrogance.

USA stole artifacts from among other Germany after the war..

I go to castles in Germany and other places and see and hear that Amercians tole them... Let's bring them back.

Patriotism? well, what is the difference between it and naitonalism?

Now you are stealing my words - EXACTLY

I was only talking to Metl808 about how at the WOA campsite we all live in such peace and everyone is SO friendly, why can't the rest of the world live like this.

I think we (Wackenites) are a good example to the world.
