Wacken's also at the most expensive time of the year for travel to Europe. My plane ticket (round-trip) to London was about $800 last year. I've yet to find anything cheaper this year.

But flying in to London, then connecting to Germany is probably best. It's more expensive to fly direct in to say, Frankfurt, than to fly to London.
