New Hand Baggage Restrictions from the UK - 22 September 2006
HAND BAGGAGE RESTRICTIONS – Updated 22nd September 2006
The UK Department for Transport has announced revisions to restrictions in place for the carriage of hand baggage on UK departing flights. These revised restrictions will be implemented by UK airports from 0200 hrs Friday September 22, 2006.
Revised Hand Baggage Restrictions –Ryanair Flights departing from the UK
From the 22nd September 2006, the UK Department for Transport has restored to normal the hand baggage size restrictions. Each passenger is permitted to carry ONE item of hand baggage up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm. These dimensions include the wheels, handles, side pockets, etc.
However, please note that some restrictions on the carriage of liquids in hand baggage remains.
Customers may NOT carry the following items through security in their cabin bag.
Liquid cosmetics, all toiletries, all liquids, all drinks, cigarette lighters, gels, pastes, lotions, (e.g. toothpaste, hair gel, drinks, deodorant, shaving foam, aerosols, etc.)
Cabin baggage CAN contain the following:
Solid cosmetics – eye shadow, face powder
Electronic equipment, including laptops, phones, portable music and DVD players.
Prescribed medicines in liquid or tablet form e.g. diabetic medicines
Baby milk and liquid baby food (the contents of each bottle MUST be tasted by the parent)
All electronic equipment will need to be removed from the item of hand baggage and screened separately.
Pushchairs and walking aids will be permitted but must be x-ray screened and searched.
General Information on Ryanair’s Checked Baggage Allowances
A checked baggage allowance of 20kg per passenger applies to each customer who has paid a checked bag fee. Any passenger checking in baggage exceeding their checked baggage allowance of 20kg per person (reducing to 15kg from the 1st November 2006) will be charged an excess baggage fee of £5.50/€8 per kilo (or local currency equivalent).Passengers may not use the unused checked baggage allowance of other passengers. No pooling/sharing of the checked baggage allowance is permitted, even within a party travelling on the same Confirmation Number.
Checking In for Ryanair Flights
Passengers should check in no later than 2 hours prior to their scheduled flight departure, to allow sufficient time to check in and to clear security. Flights cannot wait for passengers delayed at security points.
