what is going on in those "100K whatever" threads? Anyone keeps track on what's going on there? cause they are sometimes like 10 posts/min

Ok, people, I see. Thx for clarification.
So that's how you raise your message counters
Anyway, I'll post there from time to time now
I think the idea is, that people don't just have a look at the forum, see no one's in, and disappear again. On the international board it's really hard sometimes to meet each other because of time differences etc. In this thread you are asked to stay in and spam and that helps people meeting each other, because they're in for a longer time span. It really works btw.
And yea, most are able to keep track, even if there's a fast discussion going. It's really fun, because it makes us happy to see how fast it's going then. And some people just read back, if they can't catch up.
Right, often it's just spamming with no context. But that's not as LW calls it "useless", it still makes people do something together. We feel connected by the goal and the fun of spamming, postcounting etc. and we got a real community that way by now.
Very well put Sipy!
