Awesome! That's a ton to lose..in 1 week?

Yeah close enough to it :) I think I'm doing pretty well so far. My Friday night "get fucked it's the weekend" binge was modified to marinated steak and salad for dinner, one scoop of ice-cream and one square of dark chocolate. I'm going out for dinner tomorrow night but if all goes to plan I won't order a gigantic meal then try to squeeze in dessert :p I'm hoping for the best for this coming week...I'll see how I go :) I guess I'd like to gain more than like 30g of muscle this coming week though :p

It takes a long time to build muscle and you can't do it while in a deficit. You can retain what you have for sure but to build NEW muscle you need a caloric surplus. That's why you see body builders doing bulk & cut cycles. They bulk to build the muscle and then cut to get rid of the fat that came with it.

If you are in a caloric deficit then protein will help repair damage that you do to your existing muscle and keep you from losing more while you are losing weight but you can't build new muscles from fat - it does not work that way. Fat cells are not muscle cells, they are fat cells, they can not magically change their structure into something else - it's physically impossible. For NEW muscle you need NEW cells and you only make new cells when you are in a caloric surplus.

Sucks I know. Now... if you have existing muscles which haven't been getting used much it is totally possible to repair them and gain strength which will make them bigger so it 'looks' like you are growing muscles but really it's just what was there before.

I have a ton of muscle that I need to repair - unfortunately in order to do that I actually have to go lift weights (which I don't) so invariably I will end up looking a little flabbier than I want but at my age I really don't give a shit what I look like naked since I will not be walking around naked anywhere but at home and my boyfriend loves me regardless so I am safe there ;)
