That's a good idea. Trust me if you plan to pursue IT you will need all the advantage you can get - the market is shit right now unless you have some really specific specializations. If you aren't familiar with development for smartphones/ devices I'd highly recommend that. General IT people don't get decent jobs anymore. Now a days they just hire some random monkeys and then go cry when shit goes wrong. It's honestly so bad in this field that I wouldn't recommend it to anyone anymore and will be doing my utmost to dissuade my son from following that path (even though his dad and I are both in IT) Best you can get these days is about $18 / hour for a crap contract that ends in 6 months without benefits / vacation or anything else. I was making 18$/hour TEN years ago when I graduated from university. To me paid the same now really shows how shitty the industry has gotten.
I'm actually really glad my old bosses (yes, 3 of them one after another) pushed me to be Project Manager / Service Manager instead of specialist. World is full of specialist and full of Project Managers but there is real need for Technical Project Managers (people that can really handle both sides of things and not just say so). 2 recruiting companies were really interested to get me to their lists in Finland but at that point I didn't want to work in Finland so now I might have harder time to get a job because I still don't speak german.

I know here they have positions like that where you can learn the second language (in my case French) while you are working.
