I'm actually one of the very few English people in Quebec - I speak very little French and some Italian too.

I don't ever ignore anyone though! I can always Google translate to get a general idea of what is happening, besides I love listening to German and Swedish - I blame Rammstein and Sabaton for those and besides the men are usually hot so good to know what is being said

I'd call "housewife" Domestic Engineer, but really there are many skills you can transfer over to working like communication, organization, training and support, if you pick schools, designers, people to come work in your home like plumbers or like that you can also say that you have experience interviewing.

I translate sometimes but sometimes I'm way too lazy especially here.
Some german sounds awesome, some sounds really bad. Swedish sounds always bad.

I'm not too worried about having that but more where to add it in my CV. I hate word housewife, hausfrau would sound better and in Finland it just sounds really bad no matter what language (but I would never add that to finnish CV anyway).

My experience: translate the damn thing. You can always leave the gaps, and explain them while on an interview.

At least, that's what I did here in Belgium.

No, you are right. Many of the people in Quebec are French but where I live it's very close to the border with Ontario (where most speak English) My boyfriend speaks French though Or actually he speaks Québecois, which is "Canadian French" but when we were in Paris last summer they usually switched into English because he has a VERY Quebec accent.

The problem with French and "Canadian".

You have experienced it then.

Did you know that Québec films in France are subtitled? Otherwise no one can make sense of it.

And we have different words here. (I live in Wallonia = French Belgium)
I'd never use "gosse" in Canada, it's got a COMPLETELY different meaning there. (Gosse in Europe = Child/Kid!!!)

Besides that, in Belgium we say "septante" for 70 and "nonante" for 90. The French don't understand that either. (The Swiss do)

I've never heard of that, but then again, it can be true. I've never taken the troubles to look into it, as I prefer working here in Belgium.

Argh can't sleep anymore. I managed about 5 hours. Dreamt I was going on a dinner date in Brussels with a friend after attempting to drink all the booze I had in the hotel room, realised I didn't have a train ticket, then realised I needed to change my clothes, then went back and bought a 2 day pass and finally realised I'd lost her...then I woke up.
