We try to teach us UK english at school but US english is all over the place so most know just that really. Especially spoken language can be hard to understand sometimes because you don't hear it that much. I think funniest example is one friend of mine who has really awful accent and even most people from USA had hard time understanding him. Took me some time too but after listening to him for few days I got it and after that I had to be the one telling some other people (even from USA) what he was saying

We have te same thing. They try to teach you English but everyone knows american. And the English they try to teach you in school is proper English that's only spoken by the queen.
But my accent has gotten so bad that people from England don't believe I'm Dutch.
until i start talking in Dutch.

I've heard that my accent isn't normal finnish accent, thank god, and usually nobody knows where I'm from based on my accent
