I'm going to kill somebody.

I was just told by my department manager (who's cool and nice, not evil) that apparently "they" are about to write up the entire department for not putting up returns fast enough.

I'd like to tell whoever "they" are to work back here any weekend or Friday night or really anytime. And then come back and tell us we should be able to get those returns put up faster.

We have half as many people as we're supposed to have at any given moment, if not less. And that's not considering the fact that Christmas is hardly more than a week away.

Lately it's something to be proud of if we manage to put away the hundreds of movies that come in on a daily basis along with everything else we get.

If you want us to get everything done in a reasonable time, give us enough people do it.

If you don't and complain about it, and threaten to actually discipline us over it, I hope you fall off a cliff.

Also the display TVs are taunting me. Songs in ads about how "it's the best time of the year".

It feels like being woken up by the most perky, happy person at 5 am after you had two hours of sleep talking about how wonderful life is.

Best time of the year... don't make me laugh. Christmas as observed by the majority of the country is spending a large chunk of time and money, stressing the entire time, and receiving a bunch of junk you don't need and maybe a few things you did. Sure it's nice if you like to spend time with your family, but there are far less expensive ways to do so.

But it just sucks when you thought it was "I'm sorry I don't want to hire any more people because I think I'm saving money and I'm a moron for not scheduling the people I do have the right way but thanks for working hard"

VS

"You're all just a bunch of slackers, why can't you do your job?"

Just learning this is far more frustrating than anything that happened yesterday. I can deal with being yelled at by customers who think it's my fault they're not being helped fast enough. What I can't stand is being told afterwards that I'm not working hard enough.

Sure there are those in electronics who take their time getting things done. But get on to them. Not the rest of us. I'm sure the other departments have a similar amount of laziness going on. It's inevitable.

And now, 45 mins after I'm supposed to get off, I'm having to stay even longer. At least an hour. Because there's still a ton to do, and there's only one person left here besides me. If she was lazy/a jerk I probably would go home, but because she's both nice and a hard worker, I'd feel like a jerk leaving her with all that stuff. It's not fair for her to do it all. It's not her fault the store manager decided it was a good idea to only have one person here after 8pm.
