50K Before Wacken 2012

Not only am I still sick [though sorta better] from one of the worst sicknesses I've had possibly ever before, I had to miss class and I'm already ages behind since I don't know what's going on and haven't even had time to do homework or anything since I've been too miserable.

And I've got a bad enough cough I probably will have to miss more. More than 3 absenses in one of them means I lose five points off my final grade, making it essentially impossible for me to make the grade I need to. So I was already considering just dropping it and the other one I got too behind on, if I had to miss any more.

But no, of course that's not all.

Now I spill some liquid on my keyboard (didn't even notice) and suddenly it mutates into a keyboard that thinks a comma is that C thingy with the squiggle underneath, and a bunch of other keys that do completely random things.

And of course I run a few google searches, and discover that my particular keyboard basically can't be cleaned, at least not with anything beyond an air compressor.

Perfect.

It's not like I haven't had enough dumb problems with that netbook...

Won't a medical certificate fix that problem? Either way go see a doctor; that doesn't sound like a common cold to me and if it is, there's got to be something they can prescribe for you anyway.

With school, no. Only excuse that wouldn't count against my grade would be if I ended up in the hospital for some serious accident or condition, like if I nearly died or something.

But yea I was going to check out a doctor anyway... it's getting better, but I wanted to figure out what it was to see how long it'd last, because if I'm not back in by Monday or at worst Wednesday, I pretty much should withdraw from my classes.

Hopefully I can even find a doctor, since it's Saturday... might end up at the hospital anyway.

That's odd and a little crap of them. When I was doing vocational schooling if we were away and provided a medical certificate we were excused for our time away. I was sick a lot during that time (4 colds and a mild case of ?food poisoning), I was naughty and didn't go so I ended up losing those hours, didn't complete my certificate and ended up re-enrolling in the classes I didn't finish the following semester.

It depends on the teacher. Some don't care if you're there or not, some care but are okay if you have a good reason, and others... well, are like this.

Did you have to retake it because you didn't get the medical certificate, or because you just lost too many hours from being sick to qualify?

I didn't finish all of my modules in time.
Even so when I did an extra module through work, I missed my first class 'cos finance hadn't approved of my attendance yet, so the following lesson my teacher e-mailed me a PowerPoint presentation of the first lesson for me to catch up on.

It wasn't too bad. I re-enrolled in all of the morning part-time classes available (I knew if I took the afternoon classes I would have wasted my mornings anyway) and finished them off in a few weeks. About a month later I landed a hospital job and have been working pretty much ever since

Yea, mornings are actually pretty nice, I'm finding. That's partially why I scheduled my classes to end at noon on the days I have class, so it still feels like I have the rest of the day left since usually I sleep in way past noon normally.
