hey i got caught on the U-bahn in berlin, without a ticket.. and the guy wanted to make me pay a fine.. i think 85 euro?. but i got out of it by pretending to be a dumb tourist

also, i said, in australian trains, you buy the ticket on the train

Yep... we all would say "Du" to each other since we know by the forum very well. But if you're for example stopping someone at the street and ask him for the time, you should say "Sie" to him. Same, if you're talking to someone official person or such

Don't do that in NL then!
A fine of 35€ regardless of the reason! Even me e.g. have to pay and recover them back from the NS, 'cause I can't use vending machines. (too small to read)

Yeah, if he was gonna take it further, we wouldve had to run away, or beat him.. so lucky for us it went nice.. he actually didnt speak english well at all, so we were making jokes about him he didnt understand
